Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia in 21 days

Planning a 21-day trip through Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia is a great way to experience the highlights of Southeast Asia in one journey. From vibrant cities and ancient temples to stunning landscapes and local cuisine, this itinerary brings together the best experiences across four countries.

Best time to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand

The best time to visit Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand is generally from November to February, when the weather is relatively dry and pleasant across much of the region. With lower rainfall and comfortable temperatures in many destinations, this period is ideal for sightseeing, exploring cultural attractions and enjoying outdoor activities.

However, weather conditions can vary between the four countries and different regions. Northern Vietnam can be quite cold during this period, while some parts of Central Vietnam may still experience rain. Meanwhile, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and southern Vietnam generally enjoy drier and more favorable weather, making it a good time to explore the region.

From March to April, temperatures rise significantly across much of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Some destinations can experience intense heat, with temperatures occasionally reaching around 40°C, which may make outdoor activities less comfortable, particularly during the middle of the day.

Overall, November to February is generally the most favorable period for a multi-country trip, but the best time ultimately depends on the destinations and activities included in your itinerary.

How long to spend in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia?

Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia are fascinating destinations in Southeast Asia, offering stunning landscapes, diverse cultures and unique experiences. But how many days should you spend on a trip to these four countries?

How long to spend in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia

If you have limited time, you can still experience the highlights of each country by focusing on the most iconic destinations and activities. However, we recommend spending at least 2–3 weeks to enjoy the journey at a comfortable pace without rushing from one place to another.

If you have less than two weeks, it is better to focus on 2–3 countries rather than trying to visit all four. This gives you more time to explore each destination and enjoy the local culture, cuisine and scenery instead of spending too much of your trip traveling between countries.
