In the morning: our guide will pick you up from the hotel and show you your preferred two sites from our list below: Ho Chi Minh Complex: the resting place of the revered late President Ho Chi Minh, the complex encompasses the Mausoleum, the former Indochina Colonial Mayors residence – the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House and the one of a kind One Pillar Pagoda. Temple of Literature: dates back to 1070 and dedicated to the cult of Confucius. In 1076 was also Vietnam’s first national university which was built next to the temple to train the mandarin of the period. Restored and protected the gate within the temple also serves as Hanoi’s official symbol for tourism in the city. National Ethnology Museum: especially dedicated to the preservation of the art and culture of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic Minorities, the expansive Ethnology Museum has several interactive as well as traditional displays to showcase the daily life of the tribal people of Vietnam. Vietnam National Museum of Fine Art: presents the outstanding local work of Vietnamese artists throughout the centuries as well as works donated by many European countries. Hoa Lo Prison Museum: built in 1896 by French, the prison was originally used to jail political prisoners who were involved in many of movements against the French colonist regime. The prison was taken back by the Vietnamese Government in 1954 and after several years was reopened to house American prisoners of war (POW’s) mainly fighter pilots who were shot down over the North such as US Senator John Mc Cain, and Pete Peterson who later became the first US Ambassador to Vietnam after the war. The Vietnam History Museum: traces the history of the Vietnamese people from the earliest times to the present day using displays of cultural and ethnological significance In the afternoon: enjoy one hour on the cyclo to discover the city's architectural mixture of French colonial style, pagodas and communal houses with many Chinese features, merchants' residences, modern buildings and vernacular houses in the Old Quarters. Refresh yourself at a cafe and enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Hanoi. Trip ends at your hotel in Hanoi.
